About the firm
Our primary area of practice is criminal law and we have been recognised by Doyle's Guide as a First Tier Criminal Law Firm for the past eight consecutive years. In addition, we have significant experience in a variety of other areas, including, professional disciplinary, administrative, employment, family and general civil law.
About the role
The role will involve you working directly under an experienced senior solicitor and involve a variety of tasks, including:
- Reading and summarizing briefs of evidence;
- Providing legal advice to clients;
- Appearing in Court for mentions and instructing counsel in hearings and sentences;
- Working alongside counsel and other members of our team preparing cases; and
- Drafting legal documents and evidence.
About you
The successful candidate will have:
- Minimum 12 months experience working in criminal law;
- Have a current practicing certificate or the ability to obtain one at short notice;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- A strong work ethic and the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively;
- A willingness to learn from others, as well as to support and mentor junior staff members; and
- Experience in family, civil and/or other practice areas is preferable.
Salary
Base salary of $60,000-$75,000 (depending on experience) plus super, plus generous commission.
