The opportunity:
The Junior Designer will play a key role in the design, development, administration and production of footwear and accessories products for our company. This individual will collaborate closely with the design team to create innovative and marketable designs that meet brand standards and customer needs. The Junior Designer will assist in all aspects of the design process, from initial concept development and sketching to prototyping and final product approvals and administration.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of footwear and accessories design from concept to production, ensuring that designs meet brand aesthetic, performance, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with the design/product team to research market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor products to identify new design opportunities.
- Create technical drawings of footwear designs using Adobe Creative Suite or similar software.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including suppliers, production, account management and marketing, to ensure design concepts are executed successfully.
- Assist in the development and refinement of prototype samples, providing feedback and making design adjustments as needed.
- Conduct fit and wear testing on prototype samples, gathering feedback and making necessary modifications to ensure optimal fit, comfort, and performance.
- Support the Product team in preparing and maintaining design presentations, range boards, and other visual materials for internal and external meetings.
- Refer to and update the business-critical path to ensure deadlines are on track.
- Create production / tech packs for each style designed ensuring that the design details are clearly communicated and accurate.
- Maintain and manage the 3-Clicks production Milestone report.
- Support the Design team with administrative functions such as sample management and tracking, managing production materials including measurement spec, commerce markings, ticketing, APN generation and packing instructions.
- Maintain and update files to customer and licensor requirements.
- Collaborate with team members within and across the business to achieve goals and ensure team success.
- Ensure a solid understanding of the commercial process and building product to cost.
- Ensure designs work within financial parameters and achieve margin requirements.
- Understanding of post seasonal analysis.
The skills and experience you offer us:
- Bachelor's degree in Footwear Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, or related field.
- Previous experience or internship in footwear design is preferred.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong sketching and rendering skills, with the ability to communicate design ideas visually.
