More about this role:
Reporting to the Vehicle Service Coordinator. You will be responsible for ensuring our vehicle fleet of trucks are well maintained to a road worthy standard and repairs are identified and completed in an efficient and safe manner.
In a nutshell, your main responsibilities are:
- Inspecting and test driving trucks to diagnose malfunctions to ensure that they are working properly.
- Inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
- Troubleshooting fuel, ignition, and emission control systems, using electronic testing equipment.
- Tune engines to ensure proper and efficient functioning.
- Repair, replace, or adjust defective parts.
- Routine maintenance.
- Install or repair air conditioners and service components, such as compressors, condensers and controls.
- Manage and control spare parts as well as updating the vehicle maintenance system.
- Manage documentation and maintain records correctly to fulfil all company policies and procedures.
- Coordinate services and repairs performed by contractors / service providers in consultation with Operations to minimize impact on the business.
- Be on call after hours to attend or provide support for breakdowns.
- Carry out additional duties as may be reasonably requested by your Manager.
What do you need to be successful in securing this role:
- Demonstrate success in a similar role.
- Up to 3 years qualified mechanical trade experience, heavy vehicle repair experience an advantage (working on single axel and dual axel up to 12.5m wheelbase and 15T load capacity)
- Clean Heavy Rigid License preferred, or ability to obtain one.
- Proven Diagnostic skills.
- Electrical diagnostic knowledge is essential, PLC’s (programmable logic controller) knowledge is an advantage.
- Pro-activeness, can-do attitude, interpersonal skills, and conflict resolution.
- Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in computers a must
- Must be willing to work flexible shifts and over time as needed
- As you will be working in the Aviation Services industry, you will be required to obtain a clear National Police Check, as well as undergo a medical check.
