Cogito is looking to expand and is seeking junior, mid-level and Senior candidates with the right ability, attitude and aptitude.

For junior applicants, we are looking for people who are passionate about IT, have a foundational understanding of IT general knowledge, and have the potential to develop skills in a number of disciplines related to DevOps Engineer / Full-Stack Developer in the cyber security space.

For mid-level and Senior applicants, we expect you to already be a Full-Stack Developer or DevOps Engineer that is capable with a number of areas and looking to be a master of some of them. These roles are a perfect fit for people with dev, systems administrator, testing and/or architectural skills that wants more variety in the type of work that they will do. You will need a yearning to deliver interesting and complex projects. Delivery being the key word. For those of you up to the challenge, you will get plenty of opportunities to further your development by taking ownership of a project from design through to delivery.

These positions are a great opportunity for people who have a keen interest in platform design and system administration, as well as for those with these skills already and who would like to expand their knowledge to include PKI, Identity Management, and IT Security.

A successful candidate must be a self-starter, quick learner and have the ability to work independently. Being a hard worker with strong work ethic, you will be willing to work across all areas of development, integration and system administration. You must also be willing to travel if required.

Specifically, you will:

• Have a strong aptitude and willingness to learn new skills
• Take initiative for solving problems, and strong problem-solving ability
• Provide innovative solutions and high-level support
• Perform software development on existing systems for enhancement and maintenance
• Perform software design and development of new systems/features
• Perform system integration and testing
• Support the configuration and administration of systems and networks
• Design, install and support networking solutions such as routers, switches and firewalls
• Design, install and support servers and desktops (both Linux and Windows)
• Maintain user and system documentation
• Research and evaluate products and services
• Install, upgrade and support open source and specialised commercial software packages.

Cores skills, required for all roles:

• Write code in at least one language (e.g. Javascript, Go, C#, Python)
• Strong aptitude and willingness to learn new skills
• Initiative for solving problems, and strong problem-solving ability.

Skills required for junior applicants:

• [Desirable] Demonstrated ability and/or experience in administration of Window's desktops and servers
• [Desirable] Experience with administration and support of UNIX systems
• [Desirable] Demonstrable proficiency in at least two different programming/scripting languages (low level, object-oriented, scripting, query based or functional)
• [Desirable] Experience in developing software (through prior work experience, personal projects, or open-source projects)
• [Desirable] Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact positively and effectively both individually and as a member of a small team.

Skills required for mid-level and Senior applicants:

• [Desirable] Experience with Selenium
• [Desirable] Experience with Docker / Containers.

Qualifications / Experience requirements:

• Degree in Software Engineering/Computer Science (or a related discipline), or equivalent work experience.
• Australian citizenship is mandatory for this position, and you must undertake and maintain a security clearance during employment.
• Candidates with current Australian security clearance will also be preferred.
