We are seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to deliver on-ground research and development in the CFIG area.

ABOUT THECORRIGIN FARM IMPROVEMENT GROUP

The Corrigin Farm Improvement Group are a dynamic and vibrant Grower Group based in the Wheatbelt town of Corrigin, WA. The group provides members and the wider agricultural community with innovative, timely and relevant research, development and extension, in addition to connecting and supporting local growers and industry to be in front of the trend.

THE POSITION 

As the Junior Research Agronomist you will enjoy a varied role, contributing to regional research and extension in farming systems, cropping and livestock agronomy and natural resource management with a farmer driven and managed group. This position reports directly to the Executive Officer, guided by an active grower committee, to deliver a wide range of research and extension activities to our farming community. 

Core activities include:

  • Organise and conduct field sampling and data collection, evaluation and analysis of trial and demonstration sites.
  • Assist with project management and delivery of outcomes including delegated trials management and reporting.
  • Evaluate and present data and results from projects.
  • Organise and run a series of events and workshops for our members including field walks. 
  • Communicate to farmers through a diverse range of communication channels, including writing scientific trial reports for the R&D Annual.
  • Connect with farmers to understand future industry opportunities; understand and prioritise local grower agronomic, environmental, and business management issues.

The Junior Research Agronomist reports to the Agricultural RD&E Coordinator and Executive Officer. 

The above list is not exhaustive, and the role may change to meet the overall objectives of the group. 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Bachelor degree in Agriculture or related discipline, or significant relevant experience.
  • Broad understanding of agricultural and Australian broadacre farming systems, products, and technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience in agricultural research, trial management including trial monitoring and writing scientific reports.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with highly developed organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, adapting the most effective communication style for the audience.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated, show initiative and work productively as part of a team.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft programs, ability to learn specialist programs as required.
  • A willingness to assist and support others as required and work cordially with team members.

EMPLOYEMENT:

Negotiable (part-time and full-time positions considered). Flexible working arrangements will be considered for the right candidate - Immediate Start.

CONDITIONS:  

Australian citizenship/permanent resident. Current “C” classdrivers Licence essential.

SALARY PACKAGE: 

Remuneration is negotiable basedon experience. The successful applicant will enjoy working both in the office and out in the field, with use of a communal company vehicle and laptop for work use.

LOCATION: CFIG Office, Corrigin Western Australia.

The Corrigin Farm Improvement Group is located in Corrigin, Western Australia, approximately 230km east of Perth.

It is preferred the successful applicant is based within the region.
