THIS ROLE/LOCATION
We are seeking a talented Junior Sous Chef to join our kitchen team and contribute to achieving outstanding results. Your role will involve supporting the Head Chef / Sous Chef in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our fantastic venues located at Sydney International Airport.
Your active participation is crucial in ensuring the effective execution, improvement, and maintenance of all operational procedures, standards, and objectives for the kitchen under your supervision.
You will report to the Head Chef or Sous Chef and take charge of leading and managing the team. Your goal will be to foster a culture of excellence, creativity, and best practices in food service.
The ideal candidate must be available to work on a 7-day rotating roster and have the flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and Public Holidays, as per the demands of our business
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):
- Responsible for preparation and service of food to venue recipes and standards.
- Menu development and leadership position
- Take responsibility for kitchen cleanliness and organisation to ensure an efficient and safe environment
- Manage and assist with stock control procedures as required under the direction of the Sous Chef and/or Head Chef
- BOH shift and roster management
- Strong personal and professional standards
- Continued training and development of other kitchen team members
- Follow all workplace safety, company policies and procedures and Airport security protocols
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Junior Sous Chef / qualified chef (trade certified)
- Experience in all facets of kitchen operations in a busy commercial environment
- A flair for detail, creativity with food and a passion for fresh local and regional produce
- Creative input of seasonal menus with regard to local produce and market trends
- Ability to work unsupervised as well as working in a large team in the kitchen and ensure team cohesion
- Able to work calmly under pressure
