IGS Early Learners is a brand-new purpose build long day care centre and kindergarten service, catering for boys and girls from 6 weeks old to Pre-Prep.
Operated by Ipswich Grammar School, the centre opened in January 2024. We provide exceptional care, a specialist kindergarten programs and a nurturing environment that allows children to be supported and fostered in their growth and development.
The role of Assistant is to work with our Early Childhood Teacher to implement the program of activities and experiences that support learning for the children in our Kindy room. This includes high quality educational experiences that align with the national quality standards, QKLG and are consistent with the Explicit Teaching approach.
The Assistant will be responsible to:
- Work with the Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) to implement the successful planning, implementation and evaluation of the Kindergarten guidelines (QKLG).
- Assist to ensure the early childhood program meets the goals of the EYLF to help children develop a strong sense of their identity, connections with their world, strong sense of wellbeing confidence and involvement in their learning and effective communication skills;
- Be aware of the ECT's daily and weekly planning and objectives and assist with planning to meet these objectives;
- Have an understanding of relevant legislation, frameworks, IGS Early Learners’ policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure the service meets all compliance obligations;
- Care for the physical and emotional needs of children at the centre, relevant to their age and development; and
- Undertake general tasks to contribute to the overall operation of the centre.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate III in Early Childhood Education.

As a condition of employment, all non-teaching staff are required to hold a valid Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and are required to maintain their Blue Card for the duration of employment. In addition, hold a current First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Asthma and Anaphylaxis Qualification.
