BDAC is an ACCO (Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation) registered as a member under the umbrella of VACCHO (Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation) and represented nationally through NACCHO (National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation).
BDAC was founded to represent and provide services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living on Djaara Country.
BDAC has a responsibility to ensure growth of services, development of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, better and improved health outcomes for our people, improved quality of life and be a lead agency in providing self-determination employment and career pathways for Aboriginal people.

About djimbaya
Our kindergarten, djimbaya (Djaara language meaning "to teach") delivers sessional three-year-old and four-year-old kindergarten during Victorian school terms.
The kindergarten is onsite at BDAC in a purpose-built facility and is located in North Bendigo, Victoria. The kindergarten will deliver community-based kindergarten programs that will educate children about Aboriginal culture, deliver quality educational outcomes, and prepare students for primary school.
About the Role
Our Educators will work closely with Kindergarten Director and other Educators, responsible for contributing and supporting the Kindergarten Director to deliver a quality, developmentally appropriate Kinder learning program that promotes and embeds Aboriginal culture.
The Kindergarten Educators will also be responsive to community needs, supporting the meaningful engagement of all children and is developed in consultation with families and Community.

Some of the Key Responsibilities
- Develop relationships with the Aboriginal community and engage with members and Elders to provide a strong connection for children to Aboriginal culture and country in collaboration with Kinder Director and ECT.
- Build and maintain relationships, alongside Kinder Director and ECT, with the Traditional Owners, Elders and Respected Persons to ensure that Dja Dja Wurrung and Aboriginal culture underpins all elements of the kindergarten program.
- Build and maintain respectful and partnerships with families and children, and respond sensitively to individual child and family needs
- Respect the confidentiality of information relating to children, families, Community and the service and comply with the services privacy and confidentiality policy
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of a community-based kindergarten curriculum, drawing on Dja Dja Wurrung and Aboriginal heritage and culture and reflecting the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF).
- Support the planning and implementation of the Kindergarten Program for our three-year old and four-year-old groups collaboratively with the other teachers and educators.
- Apply knowledge of contemporary early childhood learning theory and practice.
About You
- Experience working with Aboriginal communities or Aboriginal children.
- Experience working in a community based educational setting.
- Previous experience working within the NQS and related regulatory standards and requirements.
- An understanding and knowledge of early childhood development.
- The ability plan, reflect, work and manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
- Previous experience as an educator, ensuring that the Kindergarten/Service philosophy and goals are met across all programs and service delivery

Minimum Education, Training and/or Competencies
- An approved Diploma of Children’s Services or Certificate III qualification (or equivalent pursuant to the National Law and Regulations, or be working toward)
- Knowledge of Aboriginal Culture (highly regarded)
- Experience obtaining and maintaining accreditation under the National Quality Framework (NQF)
- Be able to fill the position of person in day-to-day charge (if required by the Approved Provider in accordance with the Regulations)
- Previous experience in the Early Childhood sector (preferred 3 years + experience)
- Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate and Anaphylaxis Management Certificate
- Knowledge of National Regulations, NQF, VEYLD and EYLF
Conditions of Employment
- Must pass a Criminal Police Record Check
- Must pass & provide copy of Working with Children’s Check
- Must hold current full Victorian Drivers Licence and provide a copy
- Must have the right to work in Australia.
- Must pass an Employment History check.
- Must have current first aid, CPR, anaphylaxis and asthma management training
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (Govt mandatory requirement)
