Role Details
The Department for Child Protection is seeking a Kinship Care Worker to join the Riverland office in Berri on a part-time ongoing basis.
The role is responsible for:
- Providing brief interventions as required and evaluating effectiveness of services provided
- Identifying constraints/barriers to family effectiveness, particular needs and interests in relation to health, well-being and parenting as well as resources to assist the family
- Supporting the Case manager on identifying and recruiting relatives/kin of children and young people to undertake a carer role
- Establishing interpersonal relationships that will enable effective communication and identifying and maintaining links with relevant services.

We are looking for a confident individual who has knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and kinship systems and issues that impact on policy development and service delivery.
You will have knowledge and understanding of parenting models and family dynamics as well as an understanding of young people who have experienced trauma and/or abuse and neglect and impact of this on their development.

Berri is a town in the Riverland region of South Australia located on the banks of the Murray River and has a population of just over 4,000 people.
The Berri office currently have 30 people employed and is the only office in the Riverland area. Employees work together closely and maintain strong partnerships with various partner agencies in both the government and non-government sector.

Special Conditions
Essential: The incumbent must possess a current Australian Class C Drivers Licence and will be required to drive in the course of their duties.
