Are you seeking an opportunity to make an impact in the cooking and catering area? Camp Manyung is seeking a Lead Cook to join their team, overlooking the beautiful Mornington Peninsula.
About Camp Manyung
Camp Manyung is a recreation camp located in Mt Eliza on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, and managed by YMCA Camps. Catering to schools and groups year-round, the team at Camp Manyung run a variety of programs and activities to suit every group, from snorkelling and kayaking to archery and raft building. Featuring a state-of-the-art recreation centre, flexible and accessible accommodation and picturesque outdoor areas, Camp Manyung is the perfect place to explore the great outdoors.
About the Role
As Lead Cook, you will work as a leader within the catering team to ensure all campers receive delicious meals during their stay, and that Kitchen Assistants are well supported and guided through their day-to-day duties. You will be responsible for:
- Preparing and providing food for campers, including the coordination of special diets
- Assisting in the training, coordination and supervision of Kitchen Assistants and other employees
- Applying best practice as outlined in the camp's food safety program
- Undertake general cooking duties, including baking and pastry cooking
- Food ordering and stock control
- Upholding the values of the YMCA at all times
This is a casual role with an hourly rate of $29.12 + Super.
Successful candidates must be available for weekend work.
About You
You are a skilled chef with strong interpersonal and leadership skills, which will allow you to build strong and positive relationships with campers, colleagues and other stakeholders. You have previous experience in the hospitality and/or catering industry, particularly in and around staff supervision and/or food purchasing. You will be well organised, committed to excellent customer service and have the ability to apply best practice as outlined in the camp's Food Safety Plan and to ensure compliance with local government requirements and YMCA policies and procedures.
