Are you passionate about contributing to culinary environment? Join our team as a Kitchen Hand and be an integral part of the dynamic operations at our Remote FIFO Residential Village catering to 50 - 200 residents.
Role and Responsibilities
Using a flexible and adaptable approach the responsibilities of the Kitchen Hand include:
- Supporting the Kitchen and catering services operations of a Remote FIFO Residential Village with occupancy of 50 - 200 residents
- Reporting to Head Chef, deliver site Kitchen food prep, dishwashing, cleaning of kitchen and dining facility on dedicated shift.
- Full compliance and consistency with the contract and BGIS Food safety program and BGIS business systems
- OHS & E policies and procedures are met in the kitchen & catering operations.
- Work closely with Head chef, chefs and other kitchen team members to ensure delivery of catering services & cleaning of facility is executed according to contract scope.
- Ensuring kitchen and dining room cleaning tasks are completed as per daily schedule and effective time management.
- Assist chefs in food preparation and meal service.
- Customer service excellence and interactions while on shift
- Ensure full compliance with BGIS business systems, including the Quality Management System (QMS), Occupational Health & Safety System (OH&S) and Environmental Management System (EMS);
- Understand the WHSE requirements and processes for work tasks and the elimination of workplace hazards.
- Participate in near miss, hazard and incident reporting.
- Conduct work activities in accordance with procedures, equipment, and training and in accordance with BGIS Management system.
- Report hazards, unsafe work practices, near misses, or incident immediately to your supervisor.
- Foster and maintain positive working relationships with customers, clients during the course of conducting daily services.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Strong demonstrated experience in Remote camps kitchen and catering operations.
- Experience in using cleaning equipment and tools.
- Experienced working in a fast paced and changing environment.
- Experience and capability of working within an environment using QA, OH&S and environmental systems.
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Retail sales & Tavern experience would be an advantage.
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Familiar with OH&S, QA and systems
