The Moriac General Store is open 7 days a week and we are looking for an EXPERIENCED KITCHEN HAND to come join our tight knit, locally owned family business on a casual basis for 24-28 hours per week.
Above award wage offered.
We are looking for a kitchenhand for the following days with flexibility available for the right candidate:
Monday and Tuesday 6am til 12pm
Wednesday and Friday 6am til 1pm
Day shift only - no nights.
Being only 15 -20 minutes from Torquay, Anglesea and Geelong, the Moriac General Store is known for its great coffee, food and friendly community minded staff. With a post office and bottle shop also on site, we are a busy shop that services our local community and passing trade. We want to build and grow our business and we need the right person to join us on this journey!
What we need;
Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Assisting in basic food preparation tasks, such as washing, peeling, and chopping ingredients.
- Washing, sanitizing, and storing kitchen utensils, dishes, and equipment.
- Supporting the kitchen team by running errands, fetching ingredients, or helping with plating and food presentation.
- Preparing a range of food products for service
- Cooking various breakfast meals alongside other team members
- Communicating with front of house team members regarding stock levels
- Writing prep lists and stock lists
- Preparing/setting up the kitchen ready for service
- Washing dishes
- Cleaning-sweeping/mopping/wiping/sanitizing to meet our OHS requirements
- Packing down/closing the kitchen after service
- Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, including stoves, ovens, grills, and food processors.
The role would be great for someone looking for a role to utilise their food/kitchen experience in a dedicated and engaged team.
About you
Our ideal candidate would take great pride in the work that They do as a Kitchenhand, and also have the following skills and qualities:
- Experience in a kitchen environment is essential
- Competency in preparing dine in breakfast meals is preferred
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitization practices.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
- A great can-do attitude!
