Skretting Australia is providing an opportunity to join our Food Safety & Quality Team as our Laboratory & Quality Technicianbased in Cambridge, Tasmania. 

Your new role

Reporting to our Food Safety & Quality Manager, you will deliver stakeholder-focused quality control and assurance services to the business following set standards and routines. Your key functions will include: 

• Testing raw materials, finished product and reporting daily performance outcomes and retention results to the business
• Assessing quality-testing outcomes using set guidelines and procedures to be able to make decisions.
• Execute testing regimes associated with the local raw materials monitoring schedule, NIR maintenance monitoring schedule and food safety monitoring schedule
• Coordinate the collection, packaging, documentation and sending away of samples to external laboratories
• As part of meeting the service model to the business, carry out regular internal stakeholder engagement to understand business requirements to enable continuous improvement of quality processes.
• Quality assurance in analysing trends and monitoring operator competencies in testing raw materials and finished product to reduce failed product rates.
• Flag quality concerns/trends against preset nutritional and physical specifications
• Equipment maintenance, verification and validation of laboratory equipment to ensure accurate outcomes 
• Investigate quality related problems with regards to laboratory testing and manufacturing procedures

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be a self-starter and posses the following, or the ability to learn these skills on the job: 

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Science, Food Technology, Laboratory Practices or a similar field
• Strong knowledge of Quality Control  & Quality Assurance systems
• Previous successful laboratory work
• Demonstrated ability to execute and improve quality assurance and Quality control testing processes
• Demonstrated ability  to conduct accurate and routine standardized quality testing
• Ability to work under no supervision and be able to direct others according to set procedures
• Ability to communicate across a variety of levels and people within the organization
• Attention to detail and thoroughness
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a frequently changing production-driven  environment
