About the Role
The purpose of this role is to ensure that the BOC laboratory has the capability to meet customer requirements with respect to the analysis of raw materials, calibration gas mixtures and other gas samples. Based at our Wetherill Park Operations Centre in NSW and reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for providing technical support and advice to the lab as well as conducting routine and non-routine analyses using existing methods and predetermined parameters.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Ensure the laboratory operations comply with the operating procedures and the requirements of the NATA accreditation.
- Provide technical support to the Laboratory and any other stakeholders, as required.
- Develop and validate robust, repeatable and feasible methods for analysis.
- Document and periodically review laboratory operating procedures and analytical methods in IMSS.
- Ensure that operations carried out in the Laboratory comply with site safety and environmental standards.
- Ensure that the Laboratory is kept tidy and clean at all times.
- Ensure safe handling of chemicals in the laboratory and complete chemical risk assessments as required.
What we like about you:
- Qualification in Chemical Engineering or B Sc Degree (or Post Graduate qualification) with Chemistry as a subject.
- Extensive knowledge of analytical chemistry and demonstrate skills to Gases lab analytical instrumentation such as GC, FTIR.
- RACI Chartered Membership (MRACI CChem) – Preferred but not essential
- Proven experience in troubleshooting analytical assay issues and instrumentation
- Proficiency in writing documents and in preparation and implementation of training materials
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure
