Laboratory Instrument Maintenance Engineer

Symbio is seeking an experienced scientist to join our team as a Laboratory Instrument Maintenance Engineer. As our company grows rapidly, our brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in Ravenhall is in need of additional support for our large fleet of advanced analytical instruments. 

This scientist will need to be fully able to undertake FOSS milk scan machine servicing. 

Duties will include:

• Managing the routine maintenance of Symbio’s fleet of HPLC-UV, GC-MS, GC-MSMS and LC-MSMS instruments;
• Conducting troubleshooting on analytical instruments as required;
• Developing equipment calibration and maintenance schedules and SOPs;
• Providing basic equipment calibration and maintenance training to laboratory staff;
• Managing the stock for instrument consumables and parts, and the coordination of purchasing for these items;
• Maintenance of records in accordance with the laboratory’s Quality System and NATA requirements;
• Complying with quality and safety procedures, including hazard disposal and PPE.

This role will offer a generous base salary package for the right candidate. To be successful, you will need to possess and meet the following essential requirements:

• Ability to undertake servicing of FOSS machine servicing,
• Extensive experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of a range of HPLC, GC-MS, GC-MSMS and LC-MSMS instruments,
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Chemistry and/or Engineering or a related field,
• Exceptional time management and organisational skills,
• The ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, as required,
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for SOP writing and staff training,
• Previous experience working in a service role with a range of different laboratory equipment (or equivalent).
• A familiarity with the major brands of instruments in the market, such as Agilent, Shimadzu, Thermo Fisher, Waters, etc.
• A commitment to Workplace Health & Safety.
