  • Role based in Orange, NSW
  • Permanent Full-time
  • Monday-Friday (38hrs weekly)
The purpose of this role is to provide the highest quality services to our customers and each branch in order to maintain customer satisfaction and maximise company profit. The role will manage assigned Orange Laboratory ensuring that the service being provided is to SGS and the client's requirements and to industry standards incorporating continuous improvement meeting safety and quality targets at all times. Ensure that Orange laboratory and strategic prep labs are preforming in accordance with financial and revenue targets.Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Review and continually revise safe working practices.
  • Provide safe and healthy working conditions to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations pertaining to health and safety in the workplace.
  • Reduce work related injuries to lost time
  • Guide, promote and develop the service range of SGS Minerals in Orange and strategic prep sites, particularly in the development of laboratory services to SGS and new potential customers.
  • Achievement of goals set down for Orange branch business development.
  • Full implementation and maintenance of SGS G6 system across laboratory/preparation.
  • Focus on improving processes to match client requirements for cost and TAT's, focus on providing effective solutions to customer's issues.
  • Client liaison - be the face of SGS to the client. Ensure regular customer contact is maintained and enhanced
  • Produce accurate forecasts for each profit centre.
  • Budget, monitor and control costs to assist with meeting budget LC targets.
  • Monitor and drive revenue to meet and exceed set budgets.
  • Manage all employee relations matters in line with company policy and procedure.
  • Maximise team members' potential through a process of continuous improvement to create a productive and efficient team, ensuring SMART goals are set for all staff
  • Provide employee feedback to grow and develop employees and drive increased performance, ensuring compliance with Enterprise Agreement requirements
  • Monitor key measures such as workforce ratios, maintain a workforce to support sustainable profitable growth
  • Ensure production targets are maintained and address non-conformances.
  • Assess/review procedures to ensure accurate documentation of processes.
  • Monitor and review all laboratory calibrations with the site supervisory staff
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standard and maintain and ensure NATA Accreditation, laboratory/preparation compliance
  • Ensure annual review of work instructions.
  • Project manage the establishment of new facilities.
  • Ensure the SGS “footprint” is installed and maintained.
  • Be compliant to all SGS QHSE and HR policies and procedures.
  • At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
Qualifications
  • Formal qualifications - graduate level of studies in chemistry or a related discipline;
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in multi-site laboratory operations management;
  • Management of a laboratory team(s) and/or leadership of a management team;
  • Requires specific functional knowledge of geochemistry processes and procedures;
  • Requires demonstrated leadership abilities;
  • Leadership Competencies;
  • People Management skills;
  • The ability to write reports for client perusal objectively detailing issues and remedial actions supported by scientific evidence;
  • Extensive experience with quality systems and accreditation processes;
