Specialised support to achieve specific outcomes is a feature of range 2. Typically this will involve accountability for a single function, (e.g. maintaining science labs) or the operation of a work area (e.g. assisting science staff to deliver experiments in the classroom) under the direction of the principal or another senior manager.
Performs technical tasks that require a sound knowledge of basic technical and/or scientific principles that are used to develop and adapt work methods and make judgements where there are clear guidelines and limited options. Routine technical support in libraries, science and information technology laboratories would be typical examples.
The Lab Tech at Carwatha College P 12 works with and enthusiastic and supportive team of 6 staff. The role is 0.8 over 5 days or 30.4 hours. Starting at 8.40 and finishing at 3.10 with a 30-minute lunch break.
Responsibilities1. Maintain an efficient and orderly system for storage and allocation of materials and equipment.
2. Ensure laboratories, preparation and storage areas are clean and orderly at all times.
3. Liaise with science teaching staff regarding requirements for practical work, setting a priority system where necessary.
4. Assist Science teaching staff with demonstrations and activities as required.
5. Work co-operatively with Science Leader to acquire materials and resources required to meet curriculum needs.
6. Prepare and maintain relevant documentation and monitor practices across the College in accordance with OHS and other legislative compliance
