The JBS Dinmore Processing Plant is the largest beef facility in the southern hemisphere. Located near Ipswich in South East Queensland, the facility has a daily production ability of 3,400 cattle and employs approximately 1,500 people. About the RoleJBS Dinmore is currently recruiting a Laboratory Technician to join the team in a full-time position. The Lab Technician's primary responsibility will be to complete microbiological testing of samples as well as liaising with Departmental Supervisors and FSQA officers to ensure samples for testing are collected in accordance to an agreed sampling plan.
You will also be responsible for:
- Maintaining a laboratory and its procedures according to NATA requirements
- Carrying out routine microbiological analysis of meat, meat products and waste water
- Referencing culture management
- Completing media preparation and quality control
- Interpretating and reporting test results
- Maintaining the integrity of sample testing and reporting
- Proactively providing assistance to Supervisors/Forepersons in correcting problems relating to microbiological results
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Microbiology or Applied Science with a major in Microbiology (preference will be given to applicants with molecular technique)
- Experience with Pipette Calibration, Incubator Validation and Balance Checks
- Experience with PCR by GDS
- Experience with basic microbiological techniques
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management
- Access to reliable transport
- Ability to work independently over the weekends to meet deadlines and tests target
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
