About the role
This position is based in Cytogenomics, Diagnostic Genomics located in the Genetics laboratory at QML Pathology, Murarrie. We are looking to appoint a dedicated and quality driven Laboratory technician to join our team. The department offers a comprehensive cytogenomic service. This full-time position of 76hrs per fortnight may be required to work various shifts between the hours of 7am and midnight, Monday to Saturday, including a weekend on-call roster where required. Your duties will include
- Specimen preparation, culturing, harvesting, of post-natal/constitutional, haematology-oncology and/or prenatal samples by conventional cytogenetic, FISH and/or microarray technology
- Support for all cytogenomic disciplines as required
- Maintaining current scientific knowledge;
- Participation in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activities;
- Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required;
- Liaising with internal and/ or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary; and
- Compliance and adherence with QML Pathology Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Relevant Diploma or equivalent.
- Established experience in Cytogenomic testing including conventional, FISH and microarray technologies for all tissue types is desirable
- An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence;
