THE ROLE
Set on an expansive site with brand new facilities and equipment, including a state of the art, 1200 sqm tissue culture facility that can accommodate up-to 50 staff, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Technician to join our team. This position will have the opportunity depending on experience to lead small teams. Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, your role is vital in implementing daily production plans.
Ideally, you will be responsible for maintaining the production environment of the laboratory, inducting and training Laboratory Assistants as well as assisting Managers and Supervisors with administrative tasks required and including maintaining the cleanliness of the lab and its facilities and equipment. Some of your key duties will include:
- Allocate daily tasks to team members based on the production schedule.
- Arrange workstations with necessary equipment, tools, and materials
- Introduce new staff to lab procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
- Train and induct casual staff on handling tissue culture plants, preparation techniques, and protocol adherence.
- Ensure production processes meet quality standards and specifications.
- Keep track of raw materials and consumables needed for production.
- Use IVF to prepare reports and summaries for tracking production performance.
- Perform basic maintenance on laboratory equipment, including daily cleaning and following maintenance schedules.
- Follow all safety protocols and requirements within the lab.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience working in a plant TC laboratory or equivalent.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work well within a team including training and instructing others
- Ability to achieve a consistent quality of work standards while applying adequate levels of accuracy and thoroughness in carrying out work tasks and processes.
