The Opportunity

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Land Access Lead to join us in our Access and Approvals team in Brisbane on a full-time permanent basis. The role is primarily office based, but does include some travel for consultation and compliance assurance activities.

Reporting to the Manager Access and Approvals, you will be responsible for Australia-wide development, implementation, and evaluation of land acquisition/tenure and access strategies for APA’s major projects. The role actively contributes to the performance and success of Land Access teams by providing project-specific strategies, processes, and oversight to enable successful project delivery and land tenure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing an industry best practice lands framework to enable consistent implementation of land acquisition and access processes across all APA projects
  • Providing APA with strategic direction associated with land acquisition and access to support grid scale batteries, solar and wind farms, electricity and pipeline easements and other infrastructure as may be required
  • Build and maintain relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to proactively manage issues, concerns, and disputes effectively, build trust and respect, and anticipate and respond to stakeholder needs.
  • Proactively work with regulators in various states to appropriately enable future fuels such as hydrogen to be appropriately recognised within applicable policy and legislation
  • Maintain compliance with statutory and legal processes, systems and assurance processes for land records, established Land Access rules for established properties, and ensure that all field activities adhere to the project HSE management plan and broader APA policy, to ensure that best practices are being followed

Your background 

  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of Land Access services in the pipelines, oil and gas industry, linear infrastructure, renewables or similar environment
  • Demonstrated skills in the negotiation of licence, purchase and easement option agreements for infrastructure projects
  • Sound analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, along with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to forge strong landholder relationships based on mutual respect and a high level of professionalism and integrity
  • Ability to work in an organised, safe and efficient manner, while working in accordance with policies and procedures applicable to functional responsibilities
  • Willingness to spend significant time away from home – both interstate and on site

The team has a diverse range of skills and experiences and collaboratively work to progress projects through development and delivery. Consistent with our purpose to strengthen communities through responsible energy, our team works with the broader project teams to develop project plans and alignments and works with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to coordinate all access and approvals aspects of the projects.
