Form of workThe Island Hotel and Bunk Surfers Backpacker is installing a brand-new commercial laundry to manage the in-house laundry requirements for 100-room hotel and 224 bed backpackers.
We are seeking an experienced hands-on Laundry Operations Manager to implement and manage the Laundry Operations for the hotel and backpackers.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in managing commercial laundry production facilities, implementing efficient procedures, and ensuring organisational effectiveness. The role requires exceptional leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in production processes.
The role
- This is a hands-on role, and you must be physically fit to be able to perform all duties associated with the operation of the laundry.
- Responsible for the open and close of the Laundry Operations.
- Oversee all aspects of the laundry production, including sorting, washing, drying, ironing, folding and storing.
- Develop and implement optimized procedures to streamline production processes and maximize efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements to deliver high-quality laundry services consistently.
- Monitor production schedules and adjust workflow as needed to meet occupancy demands.
- Manage inventory levels of laundry supplies, chemicals, and equipment to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair of laundry equipment to minimize downtime and optimize operational efficiency.
- Monitor utility usage and implement strategies to reduce energy and water consumption.
- Develop and manage budgets, controlling costs and maximizing profitability.
Leadership
- Responsible for the open and close of the laundry.
- Provide effective leadership and supervision to production staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement among the laundry team.
- Delegate tasks appropriately, set clear expectations, and provide support to ensure productivity and morale remain high.
