The Opportunity
As a full-time, permanent Law Clerk or Solicitor in our General Civil Litigation Practice based in Christchurch, that starts with you. You’ll make a meaningful, long-lasting impact every day - for the people we support, our legal teams and the entire firm.
Shine has a reputation as a leader in plaintiff civil litigation in New Zealand. Our dedicated team delivers justice for our clients who have suffered losses whether an insurance dispute, building defect dispute, earthquake claims, abuse law, employment matter, estate litigation, relationship property issue or general civil litigation. We have seen an organic increase in actions brought by plaintiffs and, consequently require a “go-getter” to join our vibrant team.
With empathy, adaptability and initiative, you will be a true champion of our clients by:
- Assisting authors with managing and progressing a variety of civil litigation matters.
- Drafting legal documents in a concise and effective manner.
- Interpreting legal advice to each client's particular case to suit their level of understanding.
- Being commercially responsible and fiscally aware, in relation to running files.
- Effectively assessing claims including liability and quantum.
- Developing and maintaining strong professional working relationships with clients, including effective and regular communication and managing the client's expectations.
- Undertaking legal research on a variety of general civil litigation matters.
- Undertaking time recording to transparently track work in progress, achieving on-time and in-full compensation for our clients.
- Undertaking general administrative tasks, as required.
- Practising experience in general civil litigation is desirable but not essential for success.
- Completion or progression towards Bachelor of Laws is essential for success.
- Maturity to work with clients, senior and junior counsel and expert witnesses.
- Strong attention to detail and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Passionate, motivated and enthusiastic individual.
