POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Electrical & Instrumentation Designer is responsible for leading and overseeing instrumentation design activities. This role involves monitoring the progress of instrumentation design work, distributing tasks to the design team, and ensuring that design deliverables are completed within specified timeframes. The incumbent will collaborate with various disciplines, work on 3D models, and produce 2D drawings and documentation for instrumentation, fire & gas, and telecommunication systems. Clash/interface checks, vendor document review, and interdisciplinary coordination are also key responsibilities of this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design Oversight: Monitor the progress of instrumentation design activities, ensuring that work is distributed efficiently and completed according to specified timelines.
Design Review: Review design drawings in accordance with project scope and requirements.
3D Modeling: Collaborate with other disciplines and contribute to 3D modeling, including S3D Tray modeling and Equipment modeling.
2D Drawings: Prepare 2D drawings for instrumentation, fire & gas, and telecommunication deliverables, such as Location Plans, Cable & Tube Tray Layouts, Routing Layouts, MCT Layouts, Block Diagrams, and Support & Installation details.
Material Take-Off (MTO): Generate Material take-off (MTO) reports for various components, including trays, cable lengths, cable glands, tubes, steel, junction boxes, hardware, and instrumentation & telecom items. Additionally, prepare Weight Control reports.
Clash/Interface Checks: Perform clash/interface checks and identify conflicts, collaborating with other engineering disciplines to implement corrective actions.
Model Review: Participate in 3D Model review sessions with clients and project teams to ensure alignment with project requirements.
Vendor Document Review: Review vendor drawings and documents, capturing data from the current revision, and documenting changes as necessary.
Software Utilization: Utilize software tools such as SP3D (Smart Plant 3D), AVEVA E3D, PDMS, PDS, AutoCAD, and MicroStation for design and documentation purposes.
Interdisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with Electrical, Piping, Structural, Mechanical, and Safety departments to ensure seamless coordination of design activities.
Site Survey Reporting: Prepare site survey reports based on findings from site surveys.
REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Diploma in Engineering.
Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience in instrumentation design and related activities.
Proficiency in design software, including SP3D (Smart Plant 3D), AVEVA E3D, PDMS, PDS, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
Strong knowledge and experience in instrumentation design, 3D modeling, and 2D drawing preparation.
