Lead Equipment Engineer

The Role

Reporting to the Engineering & Reliability Manager this role will see you help deliver the Rotating Equipment Engineering function for the Phosphate Hill and Mount Isa operations. You will primarily oversee and lead a small team interpreting technical standards, developing/reviewing strategies to operate and maintain our operations. You will lead, analyse and continuously improve performance through collaboration with peer Static, Process and Electrical Engineering and Reliability teams and through building effective relationships with Production and Maintenance counterparts.

You will lead a team to deliver and personally contribute to:

• Positively contributing to “Zero Harm” and the development of an interdependent safety culture
• Ensuring that all rotating equipment assets at NAO have effective Reliability and Capability Life Plans and world class maintenance strategies using reliability centred maintenance based upon equipment risk & criticality
• Leading and developing a small rotating engineering team
• Monitoring compliance to relevant external statutory regulation and internal plant and engineering standards
• Maintaining effective working relationships to champion change and instigate and manage improvement projects.
• Using the IPL Business Excellence initiative to drive continuous improvement.

What you’ll bring

Ideally you will have proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer with Rotating Equipment experience. Other desirable skills and experience include:

• You must be committed to positively contributing to our safe, inclusive and high-performance culture
• Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
• Sound knowledge of rotor dynamics, performance monitoring, principles of compressible flow, principles of lubrication management and condition monitoring, reliability benchmarks and machinery overhaul practices.
• Familiarity with Safety and Quality Management Systems.
• Strong understanding of RBM (Risk-based Maintenance) and RCM (reliability centered maintenance) strategy development.
• Computer Literacy in Microsoft suite and SAP PM or similar

Northern Australian Operations consists of an Ammonium Phosphate Mine and Processing Plant (Phosphate Hill) and Sulphuric Plant (Mt Isa) in North Queensland.
