Who are we looking for?
We're looking for a Lead Estimator to join our Delivery Phase Services (DPS) Region. The role is a key part of the DPS Project Services team and will lead the DPS cost estimating team, provide estimating expertise, and support the development of cost estimates in the renewables, resources, energy, closures and major infrastructure sectors across GHD.
The DPS Region within GHD is a virtual region, this position can be based out of any of our GHD Australian office locations.
Reporting to the Project Services Lead, the key focus of the role will be to lead a team to provide CAPEX estimating expertise to the project and study teams.
As we look to transition from traditional energy sources to adopt more renewable alternatives and deliver asset transition and green mining project outcomes, you can play a key role in enabling and accelerating change.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Leadership of self and teams to develop estimating systems, procedures and tools that support the growth of the DPS business specifically the estimating service offering.
- Provide continuous improvement of Cost Estimating practices, including the development and maintenance of methodologies, Policies, and Procedures.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the GHD estimating database.
- Manage compliance with GHD's governance requirements and industry Cost Estimating Standards.
- Mentoring and development of the estimating team members.
- Develop CAPEX cost estimates to support all project phases including concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and execution project phases.
- Estimate (from first principles if necessary), costs for labour, materials, and equipment to carry out a defined scope of work.
- Align cost estimates with scope, project schedule and execution strategy.
- Assesses the uncertainties associated with productivity, material pricing, wage rates and quantity variation.
- Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, AIQS or Construction Management required.
- 15+ years of experience as a Cost Estimator in major projects.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in EPCM estimating practices and methods,
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and estimating software packages.
- Strong attention to detail and numerical skills
