The opportunity
An exciting opportunity has opened up in our Group Transformation space for an experienced Finance Analyst. Reporting into our Finance Manager you will provide dedicated financial support and oversight to a number of strategically significant programs across:
Technology modernisation
Data and tools to improve products, underwriting and pricing decisions
Improving the experience of customers and employees
Risk and regulatory compliance
Efficiency savings
Additionally, this role will be involved in financial analysis and reporting of the overall QBE Transformation portfolio, including involvement in the annual prioritisation process, managing global project finance standards such as the framework for financial benefits reporting, and involvement in Transformation related FP&A work that will regularly be presented to the Group Executive level.
Your new role
Financial Management of Strategic Transformation Programs
Global process owner with financial oversight for selected strategic projects: including reporting, planning, forecasting, business case financial modelling and supervising offshore support roles (e.g., GSSC analysts).
Be instrumental in driving adherence to Group Finance and accounting policies, including the Group Capital Expenditure accounting policy.
Maintain Group reporting routines; ensuring that reports and commentary are timely, accurate and insightful in order to facilitate key business decisions, and that risks and issues are called out.
Support the construction and challenge of business cases for programs within QBE’s transformation investment portfolio.
Functional lead for virtual project finance team across multiple countries and time zones to ensure that people, resources and processes are aligned with business needs and fit for purpose.
Financial oversight of QBE’s Transformation Portfolio
Deliver financial reporting and analysis on QBE’s Transformation Portfolio.
Provide financial oversight and enhance financial benefit realisation across QBE.
Work with the Head of Group Expenses & Transformation (Group FP&A), Finance Transformation Manager and other senior personnel as required on ad hoc analysis and reporting of the Transformation portfolio or specific projects.
Work closely and build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including business partners across QBE, GSSC (offshore teams), FP&A and ePMO teams.
About you
Technically competent in key accounting areas, such as capitalisation, determining amortisation profiles, calculating impact of accounting write-offs from decommissioned systems, maintenance of Fixed Asset Registers, FX conversion processes, and reconciling reported financial data to multiple underlying General Ledgers.
Proven ability in managing information systems including the extraction of relevant data and building financial models.
Strong finance background and ability to synthesis large data sets into simple insights and recommendations.
Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills.
Ability to assimilate and correctly apply analytical techniques to facilitate executive business decision making, such as the correct application of NPV/DCF and Return on Investment metrics.
Highly proficient with Excel (building financial models) and PowerPoint (building decks for senior audiences).
Strong intellectual curiosity to enable a detailed understanding of QBE structure, strategy and operations.
Knowledge of the insurance industry and insurance products preferred in order to add value to commentary and analysis.
Experience working across transformation programs and change initiatives preferred.
Experience of working in global roles, dealing with virtual teams and colleagues across multiple time zones preferred.
