Job title: Lead Mechanical Engineer
Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 plus super
Location: Adelaide CBD
This is a full-time permanent position.
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will have a range of responsibilities, including overseeing the mechanical aspects of projects. This includes designing, prototyping, and transitioning mechanical systems to production, as well as creating necessary technical documentation. Additionally, this position will provide valuable systems engineering expertise throughout the product development lifecycle. Collaboration with our production team will be crucial to ensure the implementation of high-quality assembly and testing procedures.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Supervising the mechanical engineering team's progress
- Designing, evaluating, and refining mechanical system requirements
- Conducting design analyses, comparisons, and system performance assessments
- Creating and updating technical documentation
- Participating in and preparing for design evaluations
- Assisting with the integration and testing of mechanical systems
- Identifying opportunities for engineering and process enhancements
- Supporting all stages of product development, from R&D to product maintenance
- Ensuring adherence to design standards and quality benchmarks
- Upholding health and safety protocols
Supporting system integration and testing:
- Developing test plans, assembly procedures, and related documentation
- Establishing configuration management and version control systems
Collaboration within the engineering team:
- Contributing to project planning
- Reviewing colleagues' work
- Providing guidance and mentorship to the mechanical engineering staff
Special Requirements
Criteria for Selection
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience:
- More than 10 years of experience, including leadership roles in engineering
- Hands-on experience in R&D and production engineering
- Exceptional problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and motivational abilities
- Previous involvement in defense, space, or startup product development preferred
- Proficiency in project management, organization, and time management
Knowledge:
- Understanding of the product development lifecycle
- Familiarity with defense project documentation standards
- Knowledge of system engineering methods
