PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION
Professional Leads are a key member of BUSHkids Clinical Leadership and Professional Advisory Teams. They are responsible for ensuring safe and effective practice within the discipline they represent and contribute to effectiveness and safety of transdisciplinary teams across the organisation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Professional Leadership
- To contribute to strategic and operational organisational goals by contributing discipline and industry specific perspective
- To lead and contribute to projects, portfolios and program development as agreed with service manager
Professional Supervision
- Responsible for ensuring all relevant staff members receive professional supervision, including Providing professional supervision to allocated team members according to the established supervision guidelines [Supervision Guidelines].
- This includes direct observations and work shadowing as well as engaging in joint sessions and modelling service delivery as required.
- Utilise high level skills to support and guide allocated team members on service delivery issues
- Provide Team Members with advice, support, and direction to promote their personal and professional development
- Facilitate, implement and review the performance and development of individual team members by contributing to the performance, appraisal and development process led by the staff member’s line manager
Professional Development
- Identify resources and professional networks to support individual team members personal and professional development
- Provide endorsement of professional development applications and forward to staff member’s line manager
- Identify training opportunities that may be utilised by the BUSHkids organisation to meet identified training needs as well as provide income generation for the organisation
- Contribute to training and development of staff in discipline specific areas
Clinical Service Delivery
- This role carries a clinical caseload as negotiated with Director Clinical Services and Strategy.
Recruitment
- Participate in recruitment processes as required
- For all new staff – support line manager to complete required documentation during allocated probationary periods
- Contribute to discipline specific orientation of new team members
Service Direction
- Provide clinical expertise to help support the ongoing review and planning of services to ensure optimal outcomes for clients and equitable, efficient and transparent service delivery across the organisation
Meetings
- Relevant meetings as requested by the Director Clinical Services and Strategy
Reporting
- Provide reporting for CEO report to Council
- Report any issues that need addressing in a timely manner to the Director Clinical Services and Strategy
Clinical Placements
- This role may be required to co-ordinate discipline-specific clinical placements in line with BUSHkids policies and procedures and in consultation with service managers.
Research
- Support the Director Clinical Services and Strategy in identifying and developing research opportunities within the BUSHkids organisation
Endorsement
Provide endorsement of individual team member applications to the supervisee’s line manager for:
- Resource Requests
- Professional Development Applications
- Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology
- Membership of Speech Pathology Australia
- Valid Blue Card – Working with Children – No Card No Start OR Combined NDIS Worker Screening Clearance and Blue Card
- Current C Class Queensland Drivers Licence
- Proof of Hepatitis B Vaccination status

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Clinical practice- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in contemporary family-centred approaches
- Demonstrated high level clinical skills in contemporary multidisciplinary paediatric clinical practice relevant to qualification
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of professional supervision
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills necessary for good working relationships and client care
- Demonstrated ability to work in a consultative and collaborative way with service managers
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development and ability to share knowledge and skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently without close supervision and to appropriately manage time and workload
