We work flexibly and remotely, using our workspaces in Footscray and Ballarat for onsite collaboration. We have a mature digital services platform of contemporary cloud-based infrastructure, technical architecture and scalable and reusable common capabilities, with real-time integration into agency legacy systems. We use a range of market-leading technology, such as AWS, Salesforce, Node.js, React, MuleSoft, Sitecore (.NET), HTML/CSS/JavaScript, and Java. From a Salesforce point of view, we use areas such as Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Omni Studio and Public Sector Solution.Service Victoria is an Administrative Office attached to the Department of Government Services (DGS). DGS was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government.Service Victoria and DGS are bringing important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses.We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.You can find out more about our Ministers, leadership and entities .Service Victoria upholds and demonstrates the values of the VPS and is the embodiment of VPS leadership. Service Victoria's values are adopted from the Public Administration Act 2004.Engineering/Team ZuluAs Service Victoria grows, so does the need to continue to progressively add new transactions and new functionality to existing capabilities, including digital licences, digital proof of identity, online accounts, and payments with a particular focus on our mobile app.The Engineering department is focused on building the future organisation and the appropriate IT organisation structure and capability that will allow the implemented solutions to be maintained, supported, and expanded upon on an on-going basis. You will also have a chance to work on continuously improving our service offering by bringing in structured improvements based on data analytics and insights.Within the Engineering space, Team Zulu is tasked with the maintenance and enhancement of legacy transactions, specifically the Fishing and Ambulance services powered by Sitecore and MuleSoft. Additionally, we manage the Miners transaction system developed with React and MuleSoft. Our team offers around-the-clock support to address any critical or urgent issues within the organization. Our technical expertise spans a broad range of technologies and tools, including Sitecore, MuleSoft, PostgreSQL, React, AWS, Datadog.About the roleThis position is designed to bolster our organization's service and delivery capabilities through expert use of Sitecore. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Sitecore and .NET, a thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and proficiency in developing, maintaining, and deploying environments and pipelines.Key accountabilities
  • Serve as the go-to expert for designated systems, providing deep technical knowledge and guidance.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to successfully design, develop and support software delivery (individually or as part of a team) to deliver business outcomes in an agile, DevOps environment as part of a team.
  • Contributes to product planning by offering pragmatic advice that balances technical excellence, business objectives, and quality requirements, and takes the lead in project estimation to inform scope and resource allocation.
  • Skilled in comprehending existing codebases and develops high quality solutions to challenging and complex product requirements.
  • Leads with technology strategy, including design patterns, library re-use, testing, and deployment techniques.
  • Actively contributes to the collective technical proficiency of the organization by offering insights and expertise, aiding all team members in enhancing their skills. Facilitate knowledge sharing by documenting system architectures, processes, and codebases.
  • Leads in cultivating a culture of continuous improvement and introspection, while also acting as a mentor to junior developer s, encouraging their growth and the team's/organisation's collective advancement.
  • Take charge of enforcing stringent security protocols within the development process and managing dependencies. Proactively keeps up to date with relevant technology, trends, developments, and advancements.
  • Participates in a 24/7 on-call roster for responding to incidents out of hours (our teams own the software they build and are responsible for supporting its operability).
  • Embrace a proactive 'fix-it' ethos, proactively seeking out opportunities for system enhancements, streamlining and standardizing the codebase without impacting existing functionality and advocating for automation to eliminate repetitive tasks, thus streamlining processes and bolstering system efficiency.
Key selection criteria
  • At least 4 years of Sitecore experience (or at least 2 years, with significant experience in other CMSes or .NET) with demonstrated experience in a Lead/Senior developer position.
  • Several years of experience in full-stack development using .NET, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript. Responsive Web design experience for desktop and mobile.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs/cloud message APIs, integration with (external) APIs, testing frameworks (preferably frontend), usage of push notifications.
  • A self-starter with a curious nature who thrives on independent work and minimal oversight yet collaborates effectively with the team wherever appropriate.
  • Management of a Linux/Windows hosted environments in the cloud (AWS).
Experience and qualificationsMandatory requirements
  • Hands on experience with Sitecore (enterprise-level CMS tool)
Desirable
  • Tertiary qualifications, ideally in software engineering
  • Familiarity with OAUTH/OIDC
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, improving, and developing SQL database tables
  • Experience with REACT and NodeJS
