As the leader of the PMO centre of excellence, you will lead the establishment of consistent program and project governance practices and ways of working across the organisation. You will also oversee a portfolio of corporate programs and projects including the implementation of the City's Service Planning Framework by establishing and leading the Service Review Program of work from prioritisation through to program and project coordination, management, and delivery.Work type: Permanent, full-time

- Developing departmental capabilities to meet the requirements of its future strategic goals.
- Establishing and managing a centralised project management system to provide visibility, reporting, and control over the City's programs and projects, to aid prioritisation and governance.
- Leading the planning, engagement, and procurement process with external organisations to deliver service reviews, while coordinating internal subject matter experts, and service delivery and enablement leaders.
- Motivating and providing strong operational leadership to the department by fostering an inclusive, customer focused and accountable culture.
- Managing and coaching a team of leaders and professionals.
- Developing and implementing a standardised project governance framework based on project size and risk, that is applicable to all projects across the City's PMOs, conduct periodic reviews of the framework to ensure it remains relevant and effective.
- Develop a comprehensive program plan for the implementation of the City's Service Planning framework, guiding the coordination while providing valuable inputs in the development as a PM subject matter expert.
- Lead the establishment, program coordination and management of a service review program.
- Guide the design and implementation of standardised reporting systems across all PMOs that generate dashboards for monitoring and effective reports.
- Manage and balance the needs of key stakeholders to ensure department priorities are met and the services provided to customers by the team meet customer expectations.
- Provide subject matter or expert advice to the Directorate, ELT, and other leaders across the organisation.
- Manage and optimise the allocation of resources within the PMO, ensuring efficient utilisation of the capabilities across the priority projects.
- Implement robust monitoring and reporting mechanisms to track project performance, presenting regular updates to executive leadership.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated program or project management office experience with the ability to lead large, complex projects to quality outputs, within tight deadlines and budget.Essential Experience:
- A tertiary qualification in Project Management, Business, or related field and significant professional experience in Project/ Program Management in a comparable organisation.
- Senior leadership experience in leading a Program Management Office.
- Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to lead large, complex projects to quality outputs, within tight deadlines and budget.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Demonstrated experience in establishing project reporting systems and in planning and delivering service review projects.
- Demonstrated people management skills to support, influence and foster a productive team culture.
- Accomplished negotiation, writing, presentation and public speaking skills to influence stakeholders and achieve support for department outcomes.
- Well-developed problem solving and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build cooperation and partnerships.
- Proven track of leading teams through change ensuring strong stakeholder engagement throughout the process.
- Demonstrated skills in business planning and management, budget development, financial and resource management, and complex reporting in accordance with strategic goals and KPIs.
- Experience in utilising project management software tools.
