The Role

Overall purpose of the role:

Our Leaders & Logistics Coordinator is part of our distributed team, helping to ensure we provide a detailed level of customer service. This is a varied role which includes supporting local recruitment and placement of freelance Outdoor Expedition Leaders, organising logistics for team preparatory training, handling the provision of group expedition equipment, and support and fast-paced problem solving whilst teams are on their trip.

Key responsibilities:

  • Organising and attending new leader recruitment events to help grow a pool of exceptional expedition leaders
  • Working with our distributed team to ensure timely and effective placement of leaders to upcoming trips
  • Supporting leaders with questions they may have in the build-up to their trip
  • Helping to ensure that leaders are set up for success and have everything they need to own a safe and successful trip
  • Providing feedback to leaders on their performance
  • As required, organising the logistics of pre-departure preparatory training events delivered by leaders
  • Planning and provision of equipment to support trips including medical supplies and communication devices
  • Working our distributed team, to forecast and plan equipment procurement requirements
  • Coordinating with couriers to ensure high standard of group expedition equipment is delivered to teams in a timely manner ahead of departure and returned at the end of the trip
  • Running any equipment storage, ensuring the correct H&S standards are followed and equipment is maintained to a high standard
  • Working as part of our wider Operations team in our 24/7 staffed Operations Centre when required
  • Providing customer support for teams when they're on trips by triaging, running and recording incidents
  • Ensuring customers receive the highest level of care and support and enabling them to still enjoy and participate in their trip

Key skills:

  • Have excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Be a confident, engaging and effective all-round communicator, with strong emotional intelligence and excellent at establishing relationships with people
  • Have a good understanding of what it takes to be a phenomenal expedition leader and to deliver an exceptional customer experience
  • High level of persuasion and tenacity and motivated by working to targets
  • Be able to efficiently balance workload, handling multiple tasks and reacting quickly and efficiently to changing priorities
  • Have a high attention to detail
  • Have the drive and motivation to constantly ask if there is a better way and to initiate and handle change if there is
  • Have a passion for travel and student development
  • Be able to commit to a rota shift system for the periods where teams are on trips
