Experienced Leading Hand carpenter for ongoing fulltime role based in Perth.
Reporting to the Construction Manager and Project Manager, this position is a site based role on small to medium commercial projects. Good wages, overtime not mandatory but available vehicle and tools provided.You will need the ability to work to time frames and deadlines, a commitment to quality, effective problem-solving skills, safety, strong work ethic and effective communication skills. You will interface with clients and contractors ensuring that all building code and safety standards are always adhered and maintained. You will also ensure that all works are carried out in accordance to specifications and schedules.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for carrying out general construction works and supervision of team members and trades on site.
- Perform carpentry tasks including framing, installing structures, finishing work, and other related duties as required.
- Ensure that all work meets industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during construction, demonstrating problem-solving skills and technical expertise.
- Ensure all works completed are compliant to Australian Standard.
- When required, direct and supervisor contractors and other labourers onsite to ensure OHS practices are met.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret detailed construction drawings.
- Ability to problem solve on site.
- Ability to professionally communicate with clients, sub-contractor, supplier and management to meet project needs and deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records of work activities, including daily logs, progress reports, and materials used.
- Communicate project updates, issues, and milestones to project managers and stakeholders as required.
- Correct usage of hand and power tools.
- Must have a minimum 4+ years experience in a similar construction-based position.
- Understanding of relevant Building Codes, Australian Standards and State Legislation.
- Thorough understanding of the construction process, critical inspection points, permits and Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) requirements.
- Highly organised and able to work well under pressure.
- Must be able to work independently and a well as a team member.
- Experience in interpreting plans with an eye for detail.
- Ability to communicate technically.
- Be well presented and be able to liaise directly with clients.
- Excellent time management skills.
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
- Valid C-Class Drivers license.
- Be able to promote and develop a positive safety culture across the business.
- Must have a minimum 4+ years experience in a similar construction-based position.
