What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Band 7 - Learning Experience Designer in the AFP Leadership Centre.
The Leadership Centre is responsible for providing advice on leadership development available to the AFP's workforce. The Centre manages a number of leadership initiatives and services, and provides strategic input with relevant stakeholders on leadership development across all career streams including Police, PSO and professional or unsworn appointees.
As a Team Leader you also play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
This role is based at AFP Headquarters in Barton ACT. Flexible work arrangements can be discussed for the suitable applicant. Domestic travel may be a part of the role to participate in training development, evaluation and continual improvement, or where required for training delivery around Australia.
What will you do?
The role includes the creation of advanced, digitally-enhanced learning experiences, in line with current educational methodologies and trends. This role will also be responsible for identifying and implementing solutions to enhance leadership capability development within the senior executive leadership framework. This may involve revising our existing internally delivered programs, exploring externally provided development opportunities, and establishing strategic partnerships.
The modernisation, creative development solutions and immersive experiences crafted by you will enable leaders to better navigate and thrive in complex environments.
In this role you will:
  • Lead the analysis, design, and Development of high-quality instructional materials and curricula.
  • Ensure instructional design methodologies and best practices are applied to create effective and engaging learning experiences.
  • Integrate contemporary learning technologies and innovative instructional strategies to enhance the learning environment.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in e-Learning and educational technology.
  • Provide expert advice and support to trainers and educators in delivering content effectively.
  • Develop and facilitate train-the-trainer sessions and other professional development activities.
  • Work collaboratively to develop strategies for continuous improvement in instructional practices.
  • Work autonomously and deliver on the above responsibilities to a high standard.
  • Provide high quality, timely and contemporary advice on curriculum development, design and continual improvement.
  • Proactively seek out opportunities for continual improvement and, new ways of delivering high quality leadership packages.
  • Contributes to creative and innovative thinking and solutions and demonstrates a good work life balance and commitment to learning.

Essential Requirements
  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Substantial experience base and/or formal qualifications in curriculum development, design and continual improvement/ change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality documentation using computer applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Adobe PDF
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High level oral and written communication skills
  • Strong client focus
  • Contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role.
Desirable Requirements
The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
  • Advanced qualifications and extensive experience, applying emerging adult education methodologies and technological trends in simulations, micro-learning, and learning analytics.
  • Experience in the use of SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of information management practices.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Teams in an enterprise environment.
