Job description

Are you passionate about medical education and making a difference in the lives of aspiring healthcare professionals? We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to become a key member of our Clinical Skills team for the Medicine (MBBS) program, where you’ll be at the forefront of shaping the education and training of future medical professionals, ensuring they are equipped with essential Clinical Skills to excel in their careers.

  • Part-time – 21.75 hpw | continuing appointment
  • Based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus
  • Academic Level B: $103,238 - $121,815 per annum plus up to 17% superannuation.

WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE

Contribute to the development of a highly skilled clinical health workforce, focusing on rural, remote, Indigenous, and tropical health contexts. You’ll play a crucial role in shaping the foundation of our medical students' educational journey as you develop and implement the core Clinical Skills curriculum and assessment for years 1-3 of the MBBS program. In addition, you’ll also participate in the delivery of simulation-based teaching and assessment across years 1-5 of the MBBS program. Your dedication to creating engaging workshops and sessions will inspire students and instill a passion for learning. You will be at the forefront of shaping the education and training of future medical professionals, ensuring they are equipped with essential Clinical Skills to excel in their careers.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

You hold a degree qualification in a health professional discipline (medicine or nursing preferred) with hands-on experience in providing patient care in a multi-disciplinary team-based environment. You have demonstrated experience in teaching health professional education, particularly in the teaching of Clinical Skills in a simulation environment, including the use of simulated patients, low and high-fidelity simulation. Your passion for teaching will be the driving force in inspiring our students to excel. Through your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, you will motivate and engage students, creating a dynamic learning environment where knowledge thrives. Your ability to convey complex concepts effectively, both in writing and orally, will be invaluable in our multi-disciplinary environment. You excel as both an independent contributor and a team player. You understand the importance of collaboration, and actively participating in staff meetings and committees. Your strong organisational, time management and problem-solving skills ensure smooth and effective teaching and enable you to juggle competing priorities and adapt to last-minute changes. You also have a strong grasp of computer literacy, confidently using the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to enhance your teaching and administrative tasks.
