Job description

(Level B) $107,276 to $126,894 per annum plus employer contribution of 17% superannuation.
Fixed term, full-time opportunity available for 2 years.
The School of Economics and Public Policy, renowned for its excellence in teaching, research, and engagement in Economics and Public policy, invites candidates to apply for a Lecturer position.
This is an opportunity for a dynamic individual looking to make their mark on trade policy. Reporting to the Executive Director, Institute for International Trade, this position will contribute to a variety of cutting-edge trade policy research projects for a variety of clients. As an essential part of this role the successful candidate will make a substantial teaching contribution to the School's newly established Master of Economics and Resource Policy by delivering trade policy courses anchored in current trade policy concerns, and to the School's other Economics programmes as required.
To be successful you will need:

  • A PhD in Economics, Applied Economics, or a closely aligned discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development of scholarship, research and professional/administrative activities within the School.
  • Ability to effectively teach courses in Economics, particularly trade policy, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Demonstrated capacity for excellence in face-to-face, online, and mixed-mode teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Ability to motivate and supervise the research of postgraduate students in Economics sub-fields, particularly international economics and trade.
  • Proven record of high-quality research, including a demonstrated capacity to attract research grants and/or consultancy funding.
  • Excellent communication skills, including literacy, numeracy, and attention to detail.
Desired characteristics:
  • Interest or skills in International Trade or International Economics
  • Analytical and/or practical experience in trade policy and negotiations
  • Substantive focus on trade in services and/or digital trade
