About the opportunity
We seek to appoint a Lecturer within the Centre for Maritime Engineering and Hydrodynamics (CMEH) department, a discipline of the Australian Maritime College (AMC). The AMC is a division within the University’s College of Sciences and Engineering and is one of the most comprehensive maritime education, training and research organisations in the world. The AMC offers a range of opportunities, including academic research, higher education and houses a vocational education and training institute in the maritime sector that covers seafarer training, maritime engineering and maritime business. The AMC also houses Australia’s primary hydrodynamic testing facilities and a commercial arm specialising in industry short course and marine performance evaluations.
What you’ll do:
Make an effective and continual contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
Conduct scholarly undergraduate and postgraduate coursework teaching of a high quality.
Undertake high-quality research of national and increasingly international standing, secure external competitive and other funding, publish research findings and contribute to the successful supervision of higher degree by research students in order to meet and regularly exceed the University’s research performance expectations of a Level B lecturer.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University as well as locally and nationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community.
What we’re looking for:
A degree and PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant field of maritime engineering.
Demonstrated experience in university-level teaching and assessment of students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, coordination of units and/or programmes.
A sound record of and continuing commitment to research that has achieved national recognition and made worthwhile contributions to one or more fields of maritime engineering.
Expertise in Maritime mechanical Systems and Engineering demonstrated through teaching and/or research activities.
A record of building, maintaining and contributing towards effective and productive links locally and nationally within the discipline, profession, industry and wider community.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $147,083 comprising base salary within the range of $108,285 to $125,712 plus 17% superannuation.
