  • Full time, continuing position for a Lecturer in Neuroscience (Neuroengineering)

  • Make a significant contribution to student education at the School of Medical Sciences

  • Base Salary $118,390 + 17% superannuation

Our team of educators and researchers lead internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, including biomaterials across a range of therapeutic areas.

The Lecturer (Teaching and Research) works under broad direction, translating accountabilities into tasks to deliver against goals. They are a subject matter expert, provide sound advice and recommendations, resolve complex matters and escalated issues related to their responsibilities.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • conducting original neuroscience/neueroengineerign research independently or as part of a team, focusing on publication, conference presentations, and securing research funding

  • undertaking independent teaching and apply research or scholarly activity to enhance educational practices and outcomes

  • engaging in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the university's expectations and standards for education

  • developing innovative teaching approaches and evaluate teaching and learning effectiveness for continuous improvement

  • coordinating activities of academic staff and provide training and mentorship to less experienced lecturers

  • understanding and contributing to furthering the university and faculty/school strategic agenda.

About you

  • PhD in a relevant area, in particular in neuroengineering or biomedical engineering

  • A proven ability, commitment and passion for engaging in scholarly activities to inform innovative pedagogical practice

  • deep and broad experience in teaching and learning in a tertiary environment, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings

  • demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives developing network of relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
