King’s Own Institute (KOI) is a leading private institution of higher education located in central Sydney and Newcastle, Australia, offering high quality accredited diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Accounting, Business, Management, Information Technology (IT) and postgraduate courses in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
KOI is looking for a Lecturer (Information Technology) to join the Academic Lecturer team. The lecturer's main purpose is to also play a role in scholarship and professional activities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Teach within the Program and act as Subject Coordinator when required
- Possible role in research and/or scholarly projects
- Active involvement in professional activity and development
- Assist the Heads of Program with moderation of all assessment activities within the Program’s discipline
- Be responsible for a broad range of administrative functions
- Active participation at regular staff and committee meetings
- Work with the Heads of Program to ensure that the course and subject learning outcomes are being covered by the teaching and content at the relevant AQF level
- Attend / lead professional development sessions as advised
- Sound knowledge of all of the King’s Own Institute’s (KOI) policies and procedures
- Thorough understanding of the information contained within the Staff and Student Handbooks
- Assist the Heads of Program to ensure the quality of the courses within the Program
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters
Essential Criteria
- A PhD in a relevant discipline
- Demonstrated subject expertise in the areas of Information Technology
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position at other higher education providers
- Demonstrated strong capabilities in conducting research and publishing research results in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience or active engagement with industry in an area relevant to the field of study of the subject
- Strong commitment to student experience and student success
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Experience working with international students
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team and independently
- Familiarity with relevant information services and technologies (e.g. Moodle, TechOne)
- An understanding of academic scholarship e.g. assessment design and feedback
- Involvement in professional activities
- Commitment to EEO and WH&S principles
