What’s the job?
The Learning Facilitator is responsible for preparing, delivering and assessing subjects as allocated. Lecturers must work to ensure students are provided with the best opportunity to attain learning outcomes/competencies and satisfactorily complete their assessment tasks. Lecturers must participate in course review initiatives, including validation and moderation activities and are required to be available to provide student support outside of timetabled class hours.
A little more about the role …….
This position is part of the Health Science team, and an opportunity exists to teach in some of the specialized subjects that are common within the health faculty. Depending on the incumbent’s expertise these subjects may include; clinical assessment, professional communication & collaboration, critical literature review, evidence-based practise, entrepreneurship, professionalism & business skills in health and a range of Biomedical subjects within the Health Sciences department. At this stage, anatomy and physiology suite of subjects is the focus area for this role. In this role and within these subjects you will be teaching into a broad range of programs that include Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Community Services, Bachelor of Counselling, Bachelor of Nutrition, Bachelor of Psychological Sciences and our clinical Health Science programs such as Chinese Medicine, Naturopathy, Aesthetics & Clinical Nutrition. The focus is bringing these subjects to life for all students in the context of the health professional using your industry, practical and academic experience.
Day-to-day accountabilities:
Collaborating with educators to create, update, or enhance curriculum materials and lesson plans that align with learning objectives and standards.
Assisting teachers or instructors by providing resources, strategies, and guidance to improve teaching methodologies and student engagement.
Organizing and leading workshops, training sessions, or seminars for educators to enhance their teaching skills and knowledge of new methodologies or technologies.
Assess student submissions throughout the study period providing good quality feedback as per policy,
Use learning management system tools and data to proactively monitor student engagement and improve the student experience and ultimately their learning outcomes,
Identify academic misconduct and take appropriate action according to organisational policies, processes and procedures
manage their own and the student’s time and attention to learning effectively,
This is a casual role based at our Flinders Street Campus Melbourne. This casual position will be teaching Human Structure & Physiology 1 Tuesday afternoon (face to face) at 3.00pm and Thursday at 11.30am (online).
Who you are
To be successful in the Casual Lecturer position you will have:
PhD or equivalent in PhD in Life Science or Evidence of progress towards PhD with a completed Postgraduate qualification in an area related to clinical care, communication, evidence-based practise, translational Biomedical research will be considered
Graduate Certificate in Learning & Teaching or equivalent is preferable
Demonstrated experience in student-centred higher education teaching and the ability to work within a professional and motivated academic team – delivering face to face and online
Subject coordination experience preferred
Experience working in the health sector or in educating health students
Understanding of pedagogical and/or adult learning principles relevant to the student cohort being taught
Sound understanding of current scholarship and/or professional practice in the discipline that is being taught.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute to the academic and administrative environment of the faculty
