About This Opportunity 

An exciting opportunity to contribute to teaching, research, and service as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in RuminantAnimal Science at Gatton Campus.

Open to candidates at both Academic Level B and Academic Level C, the selected individual will contribute to the teaching of Animal Science into the undergraduate Bachelor of Agricultural Science program, coursework Master’s programs and also contribute to the delivery of other introductory science courses as appropriate. The appointee will be expected to contribute to the national and international research profile of the School, and will be expected to supervise research students, establish a research program, and obtain external grant funding.

This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position for up to 12 months.

At Academic level B, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $108,201.26 - $128,201.75, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $126,595.47 - $149,996.05 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

At Academic level C, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $132,201.83 - $152,202.33, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $154,676.15 - $178,076.72 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

About You  

Applicants should possess a PhD and appropriate postdoctoral training in an area of Ruminant Animal Science, or a related science. 

Additionally, you will demonstrate: 

At Level B and C 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and teach innovative courses in one or more areas of Ruminant Animal Science, and to deliver information in a variety of formats at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge in Ruminant Animal Science, including a scholarly research track record of external grant success and publications in peer-reviewed, leading multi-disciplinary journals. 
  • Ability to effectively supervise postgraduate research students from Honours to PhD. 
  • An ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote Animal Science at a university and wider community level, including industry, government and professional bodies. 
  • Research interests that complement those of other staff members as outlined on the School website. 

Additional Criteria at Level C 

  • Demonstrated capacity for independent research, with a track record of experience as a chief investigator or lead on substantial externally funded research projects. 
  • Demonstrated track record of curriculum innovation and the development of teaching resources that foster critical and strategic thinking. 
  • Track record as an effective principal supervisor of higher degree research students.
