About the role
An exciting opportunity has now arisen for an experienced lawyer to join our skilled and respected in-house legal team to assist us in providing legal services across the business.
Working in our Adelaide head office with both our General Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel, you will have daily exposure to the executive management team and be expected to work closely and strategically with the business in Australia and New Zealand.
Duties
- Providing commercially oriented legal advice in relation to a range of commercial contracts.
- Drafting commercial agreements and property contracts, including leases and licences.
- Advising on ad hoc legal and operational issues.
- Assisting with the management of insurance for Australia and New Zealand
- Assist in managing litigation matters, alternative dispute resolution and debt recovery actions to achieve favourable outcomes.
- Liaising with external legal providers.
- Monitoring legislative changes and assisting with legal compliance training.
- Participating in internal project teams on cross business projects.
About you
- Admitted to Practice as a Solicitor in South Australia.
- A current practicing Certificate and at least five years post-admission or Associate level experience.
- Ability to work independently, be self motivated and pro-active.
- Experience in construction law, general litigation and or Corporate and Commercial legal in a mid-tier firm, national firm or as part of an in-house team will be looked upon favourably.
- Ability to recognise and respond to commercial drivers of the business.
- Up-to-date legal knowledge through attendance at relevant CPD programs
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels in the business.
- Sound knowledge of technology as it applies to the role.
- Willingness to develop an in-depth understanding of the Viterra Australian and New Zealand business.
