The Role
As Legal Counsel, you will be essential in offering specialised legal advice and support on diverse corporate and regulatory issues. Working alongside senior management and various departments, your role will be to ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations, manage legal risks, and aid in achieving the company's strategic objectives. Court experience is a must, as you will be required to represent the company in legal proceedings.
This is a Hybrid working position ( 2 days WFH)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and guidance on various legal matters affecting the company.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including the Telecommunication Act of Australia, Work Safety Act, Owners Corporation Act, and Residential Tenancies Act.
- Advise on corporate governance matters and support board meetings.
- Monitor and interpret new laws and regulations, advising on necessary actions.
- Handle employment law issues, including drafting contracts and managing disputes.
- Protect the company's intellectual property rights.
- Oversee and manage litigation and legal proceedings.
- Build and review software and subscription agreements.
- Participate in compulsory conferences, mediations, and court proceedings as necessary.
- Advise on international legal matters
- Represent the company in international contract negotiations with customers and vendors, including potential M&A work.
About you:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent legal qualification.
- Admission to practice law in Australia.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Legal Counsel or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of corporate, contract, and employment law.
- Proven litigation experience, including court appearances and mediations
- Exposure to International legal.
- Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proactive and strategic thinker with attention to detail.
