About the Role:

 

Woodside’s Legal team manage the organisation’s legal affairs by providing timely, competent, constructive and cost effective legal advice, training and support across all company activities. 
 

As a legal professional with previous experience in projects and contracting, you will support legal aspects of supply activities, including construction, aviation, drilling rigs and services, marine, logistics, corporate, digital and information technology across a number of Woodside projects i.e. New Energy, Scarborough, Pluto, Senegal, North West Shelf, Myanmar and a number of relevant functions.

 

This role offers 14 months fixed term opportunity as parental leave cover.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide legal advice and assistance in relation to the preparation, drafting, negotiation and implementation of its various project/supply contracts to relevant stakeholder groups.
  • Provide legal advice on disputes, litigation, and claims under project/supply contracts.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel on legal and regulatory issues arising under project/supply contracts, constructive review of all contracts in accordance with company policies, and reviewing transactions to ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and contractual requirements.

Skills & Experience:

 

  • You must be admitted as a lawyer to practise in Australia and be an unrestricted practitioner. Please clearly state in your application the month/year and jurisdiction in which you were admitted and whether you hold a current practising certificate.
  • Appropriately qualified with relevant tertiary qualifications (law degree)
  • At least 4 years of professional experience as an unrestricted practising lawyer skilled in negotiating, drafting, preparing and providing legal advice across a broad range of project/supply contracts.  Also highly desirable to have experience with resolving disputes, claims, managing litigation, preparation and negotiation of settlements agreements. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have a strong organisational and prioritisation ability
  • Demonstrated negotiation and influencing skills
  • Pragmatic, solution oriented approach balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.
  • Proven ability to build and foster positive relationships and networks
