What you will be doing
The ACI LGBTIQ+ Resource for change for mental health services across NSW Project is funded through the NSW LGBTIQ+ Health Funding Pool 2022-23 and 2023-24. The NSW LGBTIQ+ Health Strategy 2022-2027 vision is for LGBTIQ+ people in NSW to receive high quality, safe, inclusive and responsive healthcare that delivers outcomes that matter to them.
The Strategy provides direction to all NSW Health organisations and staff, so that collectively we can deliver the best care to LGBTIQ+ people and work with them to achieve optimal health and wellbeing. The evidence is clear that LGBTIQ+ people experience poorer health outcomes, overall, than the general population. This is driven by the health issues and barriers to healthcare that disproportionately impact the health and wellbeing of the LGBTIQ+ population.
The ACI LGBTIQ+ Subject Matter Expert with Lived Experience (SME-LE) position will work on a project to support the NSW LGBTIQ+ Health Strategy 2022 – 2027 by addressing access and quality of care for LGBTIQ+ young people.
The role will work collaboratively with the Project Manager and a range of stakeholder to facilitate their contribution to the project. The stakeholders include ACI Clinical Networks, Local Health Districts and Specialty Health Networks Child and Adolescent Services (CAMHS) and Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS), ACON, Intersex Human Rights Australia, Twenty 10, consumers and carers and other key stakeholders to facilitate their contribution to the project.
