Covering an expansive geographical area which includes the Central Coast, Sydney’s Northern Beaches and North Shore, Catholic Schools Broken Bay is a system serving 45 Catholic Schools with around 17,000 students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

About The Role 

The Learning Partner plays a significant role in providing Subject Matter Expertise to support school leaders and teachers in ensuring high quality Catholic education for Aboriginal students in CSBB schools.  

This is a highly collaborative role within the Student Achievement team to build school-level capacity and develop an approach to Aboriginal education which is integrated into the CSBB approach to equity, diversity, and student engagement.

Further developing understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and culture within the Catholic tradition and educational mission of the Church in Broken Bay is a key focus.

As a specialised practitioner and coach, this role collaborates with school leadership and classroom teachers to create inclusive learning environments and ensure high quality education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

About You 

  • Works with a multi-disciplinary team to support and develop school leaders and teachers to implement effective practices to ensure wellbeing, learning and agency of ATSI students
  • Develops and delivers high-quality evidence-based blended professional learning and resources to build understanding of and strengthen approaches to enrich cultural awareness and reconciliation
  • Works with Principals in managing the work of the Aboriginal Education Workers in supporting the success of ATSI students
  • Brokers effective partnerships and collaborative relationships with community representatives, including Aboriginal families and community members, the broader school community and Church, external community agencies and, where appropriate, other professionals to strengthen support for ATSI students
  • Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively, liaise and negotiate with community representatives and parents/carer’s including Aboriginal communities and NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Inc.

Requirements

  • NESA approved undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Teaching or Education 
  • Accredited to teach in NSW
  • Valid Working with Children Check 
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence (and own car required)
  • Please note this is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role.
