About the Team

The City of Melbourne Libraries team forms part of our Creative City branch whose focus is to equip Melburnians to thrive in a rapidly changing world by nurturing creativity, ideas and learning. This team aims to be globally recognised, locally loved and leave no-one behind.

City of Melbourne Libraries provides services online and from seven locations with a focus on the principles of lifelong learning, reading, place, experience and operational excellence. Positions within the Melbourne Library Service are not fixed at the one location and may be required from time to time to relocate dependant on business needs.

About the Role

Join our dynamic team as a Library Experience Technician where you'll play a pivotal role in providing customer service and administrative support in our new narrm ngarrgu library!

As a Library Experience Technician, you'll be central to delivering top-notch library services. Engage with customers by managing library materials, offering reference services, and assisting with technology. Your role extends to shelving, providing tailored recommendations, and contributing to dynamic library programs. Collaborate on administrative tasks to ensure branch efficiency, showcasing your versatility and dedication to enhancing the overall Library Experience.

We are looking for someone with a passion for customer service, organisational skills, and a tech-friendly approach. Join our team and play a vital role in the transformative impact of libraries.

What you will bring to City of Melbourne

  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders maintaining a flexible and positive approach.
  • A resilient and adaptable nature with the ability to work in a busy service environment whilst managing multiple and competing priorities in a calm and efficient manner
  • Ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, as the role engages directly with the public to enhance their experience with the library service
  • A qualification of Associate Diploma of Applied Social Science (Library Technician) or equivalent and/or relevant experience desirable
