Library Technician – Part time

We are seeking a Library Technician for part time hours, from 1pm until 5pm Monday to Friday during school terms.
Qualifications
Diploma of Library and Information Services or equivalent ALIA-accredited Library Technician qualification. Applicants currently working towards this qualification will also be considered.
Duties
- Assisting with the planning and running of library events (e.g. Book Week, Book Fair, lunchtime activities)
- Accessioning new items, including copy and original cataloguing using AccessIt Library Management System and covering items in contact.
- Creating displays and signage to encourage student reading throughout the year.
- Issuing and returning of books and facilities items
- Assisting staff and students with reference enquiries
- Providing training to staff and students on how to use the library catalogue to find resources.
- Supervising private study sessions during study periods, before and after school. Assisting supervision along with duty teacher during lunchtime.
- Selection and purchase of new resources, including picture books, junior and young adult fiction, non-fiction, Indigenous and language collections.
- Perform stocktakes and weeding of resources as required.
- Taking photos of new students and ordering students Smart Rider cards
- Sending out overdue letters to students and their parents and sending charges for lost and damaged items to the Finance Department for recovery.
- Customer service experience

- Attention to detail.
- Customer service skills
- Experience with library management systems.
- Creative
- Able to relate well with children.
- A love of books and reading, and ability to share that with students.
- Administrative skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Teams etc)
