ABOUT THE ROLE
This role sits within the Pro Vice Chancellor, Student Experience portfolio which includes Student Success, Indigenous Education, Chaplaincy, Libraries, Student Life and Wellness.
The University Library consists of six libraries networked across Australia. While the individual libraries are managed locally, they report nationally to the University Librarian. This role will report to the Manager, Access Services.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing circulation and lending services as well as assisting library clients with information and general research enquiries.
- Participating in the acquisition, copy cataloguing, serials fulfilment and maintenance and end-processing of information resources for inclusion in the library collection.
- Assisting with the delivery of research skills instruction.
- Providing supervision of casual employees.
- Participating in the development of procedures and subsequent training of library staff in those procedures.
- Developing and maintaining an understanding of the library services as a whole, including workflows, the roles and responsibilities of other staff and relevant policies, procedures and systems.
- Comply with all other reasonable training and duties as identified by the line manager (or delegate).
- Comply with University policies and procedures in all aspects of their work and conduct.
ABOUT YOU
- Supportive of the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.
- Completion of a relevant formal qualification with relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
- Experienced in the principles of library information services and a demonstrated ability to follow and interpret policies, procedures and standards.
- Demonstrated ability to apply high level communication, customer service and interpersonal skills (both oral and written).
- Demonstrated knowledge of the processes required to obtain scholarly information resources and to provide access to these resources.
- Demonstrated ability to display initiative and reliability, assume responsibility for tasks and projects and to resolve problems.
- Effective time management and organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, solve problems, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
- The ability to work cooperatively with others to accomplish joint tasks and common objectives in own team and across the university.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using and promoting a range of information technology services, including the ability to apply skills required to use a range of Library related software.
