Pymble Ladies’ College is a school of the Uniting Church in Australia for girls Kindergarten to Year 12 with boarding from Year 7. At Pymble, we foster a world-class educational environment with the importance of global citizenship and a worldwide perspective central to our strategic intent.

The role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Library Technician to join our Junior School Library team two days a week. The role will work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 7.30am - 3.30pm term time only.

The Pymble Libraries are the scholarly and literary centres of the College. The libraries are welcoming, warm, and inspiring spaces where students and staff gather to learn, research, collaborate, create, and nurture their selves. The physical space, and the staff within it, promote inquiry, critical thinking, trans literacy, literature, ICT, and digital citizenship skills. 

The main focus of the libraries is to support the teaching, learning, and multiple literacies of students by providing innovative and relevant programs, library services and a safe and welcoming environment. These goals centre around the four Strategic Pillars which underpin the College’s Strategic vision: Academic, Social, Emotional and Digital Intelligence. 

The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of library services and how these bests serve a school community to enrich learning, research, and wellbeing. The Library Technician is responsible for customer service to support the Pymble community in the delivery of library services and resources, and for the efficient and timely delivery of technical and digital aspects of library operations.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of library best practice as it relates to the provision of services and resources for Schools
  • An interest in technology and how it relates to Information Services
  • Intermediate to advanced IT skills
  • Understanding of Copyright principles and legislation in the context of a school and Library services desirable
  • Experience working productively and collaboratively as part of a School Library team K-12 library desirable
  • Effective communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills 
  • An appreciation of diversity, flexibility and the need for inclusivity
  • An understanding of the importance of libraries as centres of student wellbeing
  • Willingness to support the ethos and values of the College
